A Celebration of Love - Dymica Showels & Marques Quiller
By Jean Hailey

Dymica Showels met her soul mate on her 25th birthday. She was attracted to Marques instantly because he was not the usual Texas born guy. He had just moved to Austin from Georgia to take a new job, gone out with friends and “vam” met the girl of his dreams. One thing led to another and their courtship began.

At Christmas, Marques’ family was visiting, and Dymica was cooking breakfast for all. A huge box was delivered to the kitchen. As she opened one box after another inside the big box, her apprehension grew; she pretty much had an idea what it contained. Finally, inside the smallest box she discovered a 1-1/2-carat princess cut diamond ring set in white gold. Dymica looked up at Marques as he nodded his head “yes” she then nodded her head back “yes.” Among tears, hugs and kisses the couple began their engagement. Dymica said that it was a perfect proposal.

The date was set for March 31, 2007. Both Dymica and Marques were 29 and wanted to be married before they turned 30. Dymica, her mother, and her aunt planned the wedding with lots of help from Austin WeddingDay magazine.

Dymica joked that her mother should become a wedding consultant, because she came up with some of the most innovative ideas for the wedding. They chose the colors ice blue and brown for sentimental reasons. Dymica’s mother’s maiden name was Blue and her Grandmother’s maiden name was Brown. Not only was ice blue and brown one of the hottest new trends, but also looked great together.

Using Austin Weddingday magazine as a guide for locations, and after many trips across the Austin area, they chose the First United Methodist Church in Round Rock for the wedding. Dymica discovered a beautiful Lozaro couture gown that was just perfect for her. It set the theme for the wedding because of its swarovski crystals that ran down the front of the bodice.

They decided that the theme would be “BLING!” They incorporated crystals in her bouquet, on the tables at the reception, and everywhere. Dymica wanted a contemporary feel so the crystals were the perfect touch to accomplish the look. They also chose “A Celebration of Love” as the title for the wedding. It appeared on everything, the program, the engagement announcement in the newspaper, and the favors.

The guests were seated with a prelude by the Arundel Ensemble, followed by seven bridesmaids, a junior bridesmaid, a ring bearer, three flower girls, and a bell ringer. The small bell ringer announced the bride yelling, “The bride is coming, the bride is coming, Marques! Marques! the bride is coming!” Dymica remembers telling her dad, “Don’t let me fall,” as she began the walk down the isle. Everything went beautifully. Dymica and Marques celebrated the tradition of “jumping the broom,” and were whisked away by a white Lincoln limo to the Austin Hilton Hotel for the reception.

The governor’s ballroom was the perfect setting for their 300 guests. The guests were greeted with fabulous hors d’oeuvres, bar drinks and pink punch to quench their thirst.

The Flower Studio, and Amazing Ice, provided twenty five gorgeous arrangements along with the ice-sculptured vase. Pink roses and blue hydrangeas were placed around the room, and on each table were petals along with the swarovski crystals. The flowers and crystals had an amazing effect.

The wedding cake provided by The Austin Cake Lady, even had beautiful crystal cake jewelry. After a wonderful dinner, Dymica and Marques danced their first dance to Brian McKnight’s “Love of my Life.” “Everything was so perfect from the service we were provided to the love that surrounded us!” said Dymica. “It was over so quickly, I wish it could have lasted for weeks,” she said.

The following Thursday, the Quillers left for a relaxing and romantic honeymoon at Sandals in Nassau Bahamas. They were pampered and waited on for five wonderful days. Dymica gave all the credit to Marques for planning their spectacular honeymoon. It was an exciting way to start their new life together, and it definitely was “A CELEBRATION OF LOVE!”
